Research
Primary/secondary research.
Primary research is research is directly from the source first hand information examples of where you can get primary information could be from an interview, questionnaires and focus groups
Secondary research.
secondary research is research using already existing data from other peoples research. this can also be known as desk research, you do not actually have to go out and research anything because you can do it all from home. The ways you can collect this data could be by reading articles in newspapers, you could even go to the local library and collect your data from books and files/records. you can even get this information from CDs and DVDs.
Qualitative/quantitative research.
Qualitative research is research without stats and figures and is more opinion based research. this type of research refers to the meanings concepts, metaphors and its description of things.
Quantitative research is research based on stats and statistics that could easily be put into a graph or diagram to share as research. you can collect this research by doing things like surveys and questionnaires.
primary research is the best type of research because it is direct from a source so you do not have to go looking through other peoples research to compile information that you want. using your own information from your research is good because there is less chance of it being plagiarised. to make your research better you should ad some stats and statistics to support your primary research.
My research into lighting
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4eVEmcBwxk in this video they showed us how to do a single lighting setup and went into detail on when it would be used.
in this video we were also shown how to use available light using a garage door.
we are also shownn how to shoot a photo outside with smoke and artificial light as well as using the sun to get a very dramatic look to the photo.

In this how to set up three point lighting video they go into detail about how each light works and what their job is in setting up.
In this video I like the way that they go from a image to video showing how the lights are actually set up. with this transition between the video and the picture it makes what the guy is saying easier to understand.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fg9VBLuzHGI
This video also has a drawing animation of the lighting setup and also real footage of how the lighting effects how the subject looks to the camera.
In this video it doesn't show you really on how to set up the lights but in some frames of the video you can see how the cameras are placed so you can get some pointers from that.
out of all of the videos that i have watched this would have to be the worst tutorial on how to set up the lights but i would have to say that it is the best one show how to use the lights.
This is my primary research;
we had a maker space lesson with Ivana were we looked at three point lighting withing this lesson we set up the lighting and were told how it worked. in groups we got to set up our lighting and use the lighting desk. The image below is the lighting desk this is what we used to adjust the brightness of our lights in our lesson.

Copyright and contacts
Copyright is the protection of someones work so it cannot be copied or used to make money. it is a way of making their work their property and nobody elses.
Creative commons gives you access to the creators work if they give you a level of permission.
(CCBY): this is the most flexible this gives you complete permission to use their work and you can use it in any way you want.
(CCBYND): this means you can use their work but you cannot edit it or change it in anyway.
In both cases you still need to credit the author or creator of whatever you are using.
Legal contracts: is a document that protects an artist or song. this contact is signed by all parties involved. sets out the terms of use and percentage splits.
Ethics in research :
What are ethics : they are a set of moral principles that govern a persons behaviour or the conducting of an activity.
with these set of principles people tend to stick to them so they dont hurt or offend anyone with their actions.
The use of profanity can hurt and offend people so it is best to try and not use it in your work otherwise you could upset people.
The use of blasphemy is should try and be avoided because if you use it an upset the wrong people it could be very bad.
representation in the media industry is how certain groups or communities are portrayed. This could involve stereotyping on a negative way.
Here are some of the images that i took for my primary research on lighting.
Slider 4 controls the backlight.
The back light is soft lighting that justs adds a soft glow to your subject.
slider 1 controls the key light
The key light is the most important light. this is the most intense light out of the three. this should highlight the form and dimension of the subject.
slider 2 controls the fill light.
The fill lights purpose is to fill in the deep shadow that are inevitably cast onto the subject by the key light.
The purpose of three point lighting is to properly illuminate a subject in an effective way.
